It’s time for my annual prediction of NBA regular season records (scroll to the second half of this post to see how I did last year). The 8 playoff teams for each conference are set off from the 7 teams in each conference that I predict will be in the lottery.
In the Eastern Conference
Miami – 59 wins
Orlando – 57 wins
Boston – 52 wins
Atlanta – 51 wins
Milwaukee – 51 wins
Chicago – 49 wins
Charlotte – 46 wins
New York – 38 wins
——————–
Washington – 34 wins
Indiana – 34 wins
Philadelphia – 31 wins
Detroit – 24 wins
Cleveland – 22 wins
Toronto – 21 wins
New Jersey – 19 wins
In the Western Conference
LA Lakers – 57 wins
Dallas – 53 wins
Portland – 52 wins
Utah – 50 wins
San Antonio – 49 wins
Oklahoma City – 49 wins
Houston – 47 wins
Denver – 43 wins
——————
Memphis – 43 wins
Phoenix – 41 wins
LA Clippers – 40 wins
New Orleans – 39 wins
Golden State – 34 wins
Sacramento – 27 wins
Minnesota – 18 wins
In the name of transparency, here are my predictions from last year, compared with the actual teams’ performance. I was able to predict 6 of the 8 playoff teams for the Eastern Conference (I predicted Detroit and Washington instead of Charlotte and Milwaukee) and 6 of the 8 playoff teams in the Western Conference (I had New Orleans and the Clippers in the postseason instead of Phoenix and Oklahoma City). Not bad, but I’m shooting for 16 of 16 this year….
My 2009-10 predictions for the Eastern Conference (My prediction for wins appears first, followed by the actual win total)

Let me know what you think of my predictions…..
